Borden County Rolls Past Jonesboro to Win 4th Six-Man Title

Corbin Sumners had 135 yards rushing with three touchdowns, caught a scoring pass and threw for another TD, leading Borden County to a 60-12 victory over Jonesboro in the Class 1A Division I six-man championship game Wednesday night.

Sumners ended the game on the 45-point mercy rule with 7:23 left in the fourth quarter on his 31-yard scoring catch from Hunter Jones, who complete five of six passes for three touchdowns. Jones had 152 yards rushing.

It was the fourth state title for Borden County (14-1), and the first since 2009.

Robert Robuck scored both of Jonesboro's touchdowns on short runs, the last one midway through the second quarter. He had 59 yards on 11 carries.

Jonesboro (14-1) was held to 197 yards total offense and completed just three of 13 passes in the school's first trip to the state finals.

Trace Richey had a 1-yard scoring run and an interception for Borden County.

In the Class 1A Division II six-man championship game, Richland Springs blew out Balmorhea 96-50.
