Beltre Named Gold Glove Finalist

Adrian Beltre just keeps being awesome despite his escalating age and ailing body, and his hard work in an otherwise awful 2014 for the Texas Rangers was recognized when he was named a finalist for the American League Gold Glove for third basemen.

He was joined on the finalist list by Oakland A's star Josh Donaldson and up-and-coming Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager, who is a noted Rangers killer.

Beltre is a four-time winner of the award, given to the best defensive player at each position and won back-to-back awards in 2011 and 2012 — his first two seasons in Texas. He had a .967 fielding percentage — two points better than his 2011 mark — with 12 errors in 2014.

Another name of local interest named a Gold Glove finalist was Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler, who is joined by Robinson Cano and Kinsler's former college teammate Dustin Pedroia as finalists at second base.
