Beckham Dishes About Royal Wedding

International soccer star David Beckham said the royal wedding he and his wife attended was "amazing."

Beckham landed in North Texas straight from the wedding to take the pitch for the L.A. Galaxy in Frisco on Sunday.

"It's something that our country is very proud of -- the royals -- and it was just an amazing day altogether," he said in a post-game interview.

Beckham was criticized for missing practice with his team to attend the wedding of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, even though his coach, Bruce Arena, had granted his approval.

"I wasn't jet-lagged; I wasn't tired in any way," Beckham said. "I felt great in the game. Obviously, it's not ideal having to travel and having to fly back to England and then come here, but, you know, like I said, I've got a great bunch of teammates that are behind me."

The Galaxy lost to FC Dallas 2-1 in a soggy game that was interrupted by lightning that resulted in a game delay 82 minutes into the 90-minute match.

He helped draw a sold-out crowd of more 21, 867 to Pizza Hut Park, but reporters were more interested in hearing about the royal wedding.

Beckham said love of soccer sparked his friendship with William. William would often visit the English national team, and the two worked together to create England's bid for the 2018 World Cup.

"We've spent a lot of time together, so, you know, it's great to see him so happy, and we wish the two of them best of luck in the future," Beckham said.

A fashion icon himself, Becks said he and his wife, Victoria, loved Kate's dress.

"She loved it," he said. "Everyone at the wedding, everyone watching on TV thought she looked absolutely spectacular."

Reporters also asked if Beckham ever got sick of talking about the royal wedding.

"I will never get sick of talking about the wedding," Beckham said. "You know, the royals is something that us English are proud of."

Fans can expect to see Beckham play soccer on American fields for at least the next few years. He said he plans to play in the MLS for as long as he can stay healthy.

Of course, that may change as he will be busy with his fourth child.

"We're very proud to have three amazing boys already, but to have a little girl on the way -- it's special, so we're excited," he said.
