Baylor to Discipline Player After Video of Dog Abuse Surfaces

Player to be disciplined by team, faces civil fine

A Baylor football player will be disciplined by the team after a shocking video published on Snapchat shows the student-athlete beating and kicking a dog, KXXV-TV in Waco reports.

The television report identified the player as Ishmael Zamora, a wide receiver for the Baylor Bears, and said the video was shared on another player's Snapchat account.

A former Baylor student saw the video and reported the abuse to the Baylor Police Department and Animal Control.

Interim Baylor head coach Jim Grobe told the Waco Tribune they weren't going to tolerate the behavior and that Zamora is going to be disciplined "by a bunch of people," including the athletic department.

"The city is going to get a piece of him, and the university doesnโ€™t take it lightly. There will be some sanctions from the university. From an athletic department standpoint weโ€™ll do some things. Hopefully, itโ€™s a teaching moment and a learning experience for him," Grobe told the paper.

In a statement released to KXXV, Zamora said he lost his temper and that he's since gone through dog training to learn new ways to potty train the dog.

Police documents cited by KXXV indicate the dog is no longer living with Zamora and is in the care of his family.

KXXV said an investigation into the abuse resulted in a Class C misdemeanor and a fine that could total $500.
