Bamba Fall scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds to help lead SMU to a 70-67 win over Colorado at Moody Coliseum on Monday night.

Derek Williams led the Mustangs (5-7) with 14 points, including 11 in the second half. Paul McCoy scored 11 for SMU and Mouhammad Faye had 10. It was the second straight victory for SMU.

Colorado cut SMU's lead to two at 69-67 with five seconds left. Cory Higgins fouled Fall, who made one of his two free throws. Nate Tomlinson missed a 3-pointer as time ran out that would have tied the game.

The Mustangs hit 21-of-29 (72.4 percent) free throws in the game, which were season highs for makes and attempts. Fall was 7-of-10, Williams was perfect at 6-for-6, and Faye hit 5-of-7.

Colorado led 33-32 at the half but SMU used a 9-3 run to start the second half to take the lead for good en route to the Mustangs' first win over a Big 12 foe since a 77-43 win against Baylor on Dec. 16, 2004.

Dwight Thorne II led Colorado (7-6) with 18 points. Austin Dufault had 13, Higgins 11 and Jermy Jackson-Wilson and Tomlinson each scored 10.

The double-double by Bamba Fall was his second of the season and fifth of his career. He also had two assists and two blocks. He has now scored in double-figures in four straight games, which matches the second-longest streak of his career. Williams and McCoy had four assists each. McCoy also had a game-high four steals while Williams had three takeaways.

SMU outrebounded the Buffaloes 38-27. The Mustangs recorded 16 offensive rebounds, recording an 18-12 advantage on second-chance points. Fall and Papa Dia each had five offensive rebounds. Dia finished with six boards.

The Mustangs open Conference USA play when UTEP visits Moody Coliseum on Saturday at 7 p.m.
