TCU's Baker, Skoug Added to U.S. National Team Roster

Even though TCU’s season came to an end last week at the College World Series, there’s still more baseball to be played for a couple of Horned Frog players.

Luken Baker and catcher Evan Skoug have been added to the roster for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team trials.

Baker, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and second-team All-America, also played first base and pitcher for the Horned Frogs this season, but he’s listed as an outfielder on the roster. Baker hit .379 with 11 home runs and 62 RBI, and drew national attention with a couple of highlight home runs in Omaha.

Skoug just finished up a strong sophomore season, hitting .301 with nine home runs and 51 RBI, including 21 multi-hit games. Skoug was named to the Big 12 All-Freshmen team in 2015, so it came to no surprise that head coach Jim Schlossnagle picked him to be Baker’s mentor this season.

The team will train in Los Angeles and compete against teams in the California Collegiate League from June 28 through July 2. Afterward, there will be trips to Chinese Taipei, Japan and Cuba for an International Friendship Series from July 5 through 26.
