Aqib Talib Surrenders to Garland PD

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback and North Texas-native Aqib Talib turned himself in to the Garland Police Department Wednesday.

Talib, 25, was wanted on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a fight March 21.  He posted a $25,000 bond and was released.

Garland investigators responded to a call just before 7:30 p.m. that night to a home on the 900 block of Green Pond Drive where Aqib and his mother, Okolo Talib, had shot at Shannon Billings, police said.

Billings, who was not hit by the gunfire, is the boyfriend of Aqib's sister.

Talib's mother, who faced a felon in possession of a handgun charge, turned herself in to authorities on Tuesday afternoon and later posted bond.

Talib went to L.V. Berkner High School in Richardson and played football for the University of Kansas.

The cases will each be presented to a Dallas County Grand Jury.
