Saddling up at the Fort Worth Stockyards takes on a new meaning later this month with the Red Bull X-Fighters in Texas.

Freestyle motocross stars Robbie Maddison of Australia, Mat Rebeaud of Switzerland and Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg of Southern California's Metal Mulisha highlight the field.

They'll compete Saturday night, June 27, in an aerial rodeo.

The Red Bull X-Fighters Web site reports Levi Sherwood, the winner of the Mexico City competition earlier this year popped his knee during a training session and won't be able to ride in Fort Worth.

Metal Mulisha rider Jeff "Ox" Kargola will take his place.

It's the only U.S. stop on an international motocross tour that has turned bullrings, stockyards, an Irish castle and even a German rock quarry into high-flying action sports venues.

The competition has 12 riders trying to outdo each other with jumps and tricks with names such as Kiss of Death, Hart Attack, Backflip Superman, Tsunami and Cliffhanger.

As part of the wild West theme in Fort Worth, riders start their run by being released out of rodeo chutes as if they were bulls.
