North Texas is set to introduce Dan McCarney as its new football coach Tuesday.

A person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press that McCarney, a Florida assistant and former Iowa State head coach, is being hired as the replacement for the fired Todd Dodge. The person would not comment publicly because the school had not yet made its announcement.

North Texas has called a news conference for Tuesday afternoon "to announce the hiring of the new head football coach."
