49ers Fan Proposes to Girlfriend at Levi's Stadium

A recently engaged couple will forever be linked to the new home of the San Francisco 49ers.

Dedicated 49ers fan Scott Onick proposed to his girlfriend, Sarah Cookson, during a tour last week of Levi's Stadium. It was the first marriage proposal at the new Santa Clara stadium.

The couple - who are both huge fans - was participating in a group photo during the stadium tour when Sarah is told to turn around and view a message posted on the stadium's video board.

The message:

"Welcome to Levi's Stadium, Scott and Sarah.

Sarah, will you MARRY ME? Love, Scotty"

That's when Onick, a San Francisco resident, takes his cue.

In a video posted on the 49ers website, Onick takes a knee and says, "Sarah, you're the only person I want to be with in my life."

The bride-to-be is then overcome with emotion, breaking down in tears.

"Just like the 49ers going on to the next chapter, this is the perfect place to start our next chapter of something great," Onick says. "Will you be my wife?"

Cookson, crying with joy, eventually is able to respond.

"Was that a yes?" Onick asks.

"I can't even say it, yes!" Cookson replies.

Moments later, Cookson shows off her new ring.

"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life," she says in shock. "I can't believe I'm wearing a ring right now."

A week later, Cookson still can't believe the special moment happened.

"It's a girl's dream," she said Wednesday. "You picture this day your whole life and it happened. Is this real?"

The newly engaged couple is planning a wedding in August 2015.
