Texas Primary Election Moved to April 3

The Republican and Democratic parties have agreed on an April 3 as the day to hold a primary vote.

Texas was forced to delay the primary from March 6 because of a dispute over political redistricting.

A federal court has refused to approve a map drafted by the Legislature, and the U.S. Supreme Court has put on hold a map drawn by a panel of three federal judges.

The courts asked the political parties to come up with an alternative date.

The parties announced they'd reached an agreement on Friday and will submit their proposal to the court for approval. By then the courts should have worked out a redistricting map for the 2012 elections.
