Texans in Conversation for New Congressional Leadership

After the shock wears off from the unexpected resignation of Speaker John Boehner, the conversation turns to who will replace him in the position that's second in line to the presidency.

Representative Jeb Hensarling, R-Dallas, has been mentioned as a possibility. He has been in leadership before and now chairs the powerful House Committee on Financial Services.

His spokesperson said in a statement today, "Chairman Hensarling is considering his options and I expect he will have a decision by early next week."

Another possibility is, he could also become the majority leader, if the majority leader moves up to become the speaker.

NBC DFW contacted Representative Pete Sessions, R-Dallas, and were told he is not commenting at this time, but The Dallas Morning News political reporter Gromer Jeffers reports that the Texas delegation is pushing for him to become the majority whip.
