State Sen. Wendy Davis Packs Food For Guard Troops

The Democrat running for Texas Governor delievered food intended for National Guard Troops serving on the Texas/Mexico border.

State Senator Wendy Davis (D) and her staff packed food at her campaign offices and then delievered food to a food bank in McAllen.

It comes just days after a TV station reported 50 National Guard troops had reached out for food and gas assistance because they won't be paid until September 5.

"These are people here who are honoring their duty to our country and we should honor our duty to them," said Davis.

Up to 1,000 National Guard troops are expected to serve along the border. The Texas National Guard says it has robust resources to feed, house and transport them.
