Senator Ted Cruz Rallies Crowd in Fort Worth

United States Senator Ted Cruz was in Fort Worth Wednesday to rally up support for the GOP as rumors continue to swirl on his possible presidential run in 2016.

Hundreds of people showed up to hear Cruz speak at the a rally for state senate candidate Konni Burton at the Fort Worth Stockyards Wednesday evening. He was greeted by a standing ovation as he took the podium.

Iowa is the first state to kick off presidential voting. Cruz just returned from his fourth trip to that state in eight months. He’s now been there more than any other possibilities for Republican presidential contenders besides Rep. Rand Paul.

NBC 5 asked the senator about the presidential possibility.

“My focus is entirely on representing 26 million Texans, standing up and fighting to bring back jobs and economic growth and to defend the constitution,” Cruz responded.

A new online campaign launched Wednesday "Draft Ted Cruz for President."

It’s a national petition, calling for one million signatures, in an effort to urge Cruz to run for President of the United States.
