Forest Hill mayor takes out mental health warrant on councilman

Talk about political mind games.

James Gosey, the mayor of Forest Hill, filed for and was granted a mental health warrant forcing his one-time friend and City Councilman Damian Dalcour to undergo a psychological evaluation.
The move occurred just before a special council meeting during which members voted to suspend the mayor for four months.

Gosey, according to an article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, said he was concerned his former friend might hurt himself or someone else. Dalcour, who takes prescribed medication for a disorder incurred during his military stint during the Gulf War, characterized the warrant as a political ploy to keep him from the meeting.

This one could end up as a TV movie. You have once-fast friends at odds in a political arena, you have accusations of sexual harassment, you have Texans carrying weapons into a council meeting, you have a judge signing the warrant at the behest of the wrangling mayor, you have a politician sitting for a forced mental evaluation … about all we’re missing here is the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders putting on a fundraising performance to save the day and Little Rebecca’s farm.

Ah, small-town politics…always good for a little cabaret.
