Gov. Rick Perry took time away from the opening week of the Legislature to shoot a cameo for an upcoming independent film.
Perry made the cameo Thursday for "Deep in the Heart."
The producers said the governor was so instrumental in bringing the film to Texas that they wrote him into the script. The Austin American-Statesman reported that filmmakers may receive up to 29 percent of their budget back through Texas Film Commission incentives.
The film is based on the life of Richard Wallrath, largest individual donor to Texas 4-H and Texas FFA and a personal friend of Perry's.
The movie, which should hit theaters next year, is not the governor's first feature film. He played himself in the 2005 Tommy Lee Jones film "Man of the House."
