Republican Gov. Rick Perry says he raised $7.1 million for his re-election bid from late February through June, slightly less than his Democratic opponent Bill White.

Perry also reported far less campaign cash on hand than White with $5.9 million compared to White's reported $9 million.

The campaigns released the numbers Thursday, the state deadline for reporting campaign finances.

White is a former Houston mayor. Perry is seeking a third full term as governor.
