Inaugural Lunch With Perry Just $8

The 2011 family-friendly Texas Inaugural will include an $8 per guest barbecue lunch with Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

Details on the Jan. 18 celebration with the GOP leaders were announced Tuesday.

Organizers said it's a scaled-back celebration, compared to previous years, as Texas faces a projected $20 billion budget shortfall.

The inaugural is made possible through ticket sales and private funding, not state money.

The swearing-in is free to the public and will be on the south steps of the Capitol at 11 a.m. on Jan. 18. The barbecue lunch on the grounds of the Capitol, with advance reservations recommended, will follow.

The inauguration will not include a parade. Cocktail attire is recommended for the evening's invitation-only party.
