Texas Gov. Rick Perry wants President Barack Obama to apologize while in Texas for his attorney general's criticism of the state's voter ID law.
Perry said in a statement Tuesday that Attorney General Eric Holder had made "offensive and incendiary comments" about the law passed last year.
The law would require voters to present a valid, government-issued photo ID.
The Justice Department blocked the law in March, and Texas then sued in federal court. A weeklong trial over the law wrapped up last week, though no decision was immediately announced.
Obama is holding fundraisers Tuesday in San Antonio and Austin.
Perry says the president should apologize on behalf of Holder for his "imprudent remarks."
Holder has compared the voter ID law to poll taxes once used to disenfranchise minority voters.
