Mitt Romney's dearly departed Irish Setter, Seamus, who once spent an infamous trip strapped to the roof of a car, has had his plight immortalized in song.
"Don’t Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Seamus Unleashed)," from punk/new wave legends Devo, is partly a paean to the presumptive Republican presidential nominee's former dog. The song premiered yesterday on Rolling Stone.
"This isn't a red-state thing or Devo stumping for Obama," Devo frontman Jerry Casale told the magazine. "But I think any animal lover that hears the story will learn so much about the character flaw of Romney... What you want in a leader is a guy with some humanity at his core. I just don't feel that Mitt does."
A sample of the lyrics show that while the song may not be pro-Obama, or technically partisan, the band clearly has an agenda:
“Your master’s story seems air-tight, but somethin’ about him isn’t right. He’ll say anything to win the race. Wish you could rise up from your grave and tell the world how his smile hides the soul of an angry little man.”
