DPS Documents: No Jars of Feces, Urine Seized at Abortion Protests

Texas Department of Public Safety documents show troopers seized no jars of urine or feces from Capitol visitors the day of debate of controversial abortion bill.

That's counter to a DPS statement issued the night of the July 12 debate and filibuster by Democratic state Sen. Wendy Davis of Fort Worth.

That night, the DPS statement said 18 bottles were seized that were "suspected" of containing feces, while another bottle was confiscated that was "suspected" of containing urine.

The Austin American-Statesman reports the documents released Monday also contained an email from DPS Director Steve McCraw. In the email, McCraw wrote that he was "tired of reading that we made this stuff up" and appealed for any evidence to support the July 12 statement.
