Current TV also released a written statement, which is the first of any kind for the San Francisco-based network since the two were taken captive back in March.

"On March 17, 2009, our colleagues, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, were arrested by North Korean guards while reporting along the China-North Korea border. After 140 days detained in North Korea, Laura and Euna returned home," Current said.

Ling and Lee were on assignment for Current when they were caught crossing over the border into North Korea.

Former President Bill Clinton flew to the country to secure their release.

In the video, both thanked their supporters and said while they plan on telling their story in the future, they needed time right now to be with their families.
