Campaigns React to Thursday's GOP Presidential Debate

The Republican presidential candidates met for one last debate Thursday before the Iowa Caucuses.

The debate, held in Charleston, South Carolina, featured several exchanges between front runners Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

NBC 5 Political Reporter Julie Fine is gathering reaction to the debate. The first one is from well-known pollster Frank Luntz, who posted the following on his Facebook page:

"My focus group says tonight's #GOPDebate winner is Ted Cruz. He is no longer a 'long shot.'"

A Cruz campaign spokesperson provided the following reaction to NBC 5:

"Ted Cruz won the debate. He commended the issues, showed Americans that he's ready to be Commander-in-Chief on day one. He'll bring back growth and keep our country safe.

Ted did what no other candidate could do, he went toe-to-toe with Donald Trump and won."

Texas State Rep. Jason Villalba, Texas House District 114, posted the following on Twitter:

"I have faith in America. @marcorubio is the One. He will be the nominee. Many good men on the stage. @marcorubio is the chosen one."

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton posted the following on Twitter:

"What you're really hearing at the #GOPdebate: More tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, no real plans for the middle class."
