At Koch Summit, Rand Paul Splits with Cruz, Rubio

Rand Paul is showing how he might disrupt the Republican presidential field if he seeks the nomination, sparring with potential rivals over Iran and Cuba in one of the first face-to-face forums among would-be candidates.

The Kentucky Republican joined fellow first-term senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida on stage Sunday evening in California for a summit organized by Freedom Partners.

That group is the central hub of the powerful network of organizations backed by conservative billionaire Koch brothers.

Paul repeatedly disagreed with Cruz and Rubio on foreign policy questions.

Paul urged Congress to give negotiators time to continue talks with Iran about its nuclear program and questioned those who want to keep U.S. sanctions against Cuba. That put him at odds with Cruz and Rubio.
