Abbott, Davis Encourage Early Voting

Attorney General Greg Abbott and State Senator Wendy Davis were both in the Metroplex on Wednesday.

It is the final week of the campaign for Governor, and a busy week for the candidates.

Abbott was at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, where he was introduced by Senator John Cornyn.

“Now I am ready to fight for the future of this great state,” said Abbott.

Polls show Abbott leading Davis, and he is also winning the battle of the war chest.

Latest numbers released by the campaign show that Abbott has more than $13 million of cash on hand.

While the Davis campaign and groups contributing to the effort have $1.6 million on hand.

Abbott’s stop in Fort Worth is one of three he has Monday.

“Vote today and then for the next two days of early voting, and the days leading up to the election next Tuesday. We need every single person in this room to be responsible for getting five people to go out and vote,” said Abbott.

While Davis was in Fort Worth, on her home turf, She stopped at a campaign office.

“This is why we are going to win, because of all of the work you are doing,” said Davis.

Davis was introduced by Congressman Marc Veasey.

And even though she trails, as she has throughout the campaign, Davis appears confident.

”Every vote is going to matter in this race. I truly believe it is going to come down to just a few thousand vote difference, and I want to encourage our voters, please believe in the outcome. Be a part of making it happen,” said Davis.
