Women Denied Free Drink Beat Bar Patron With Shoes: Cops

Police say one of the women punched the man in the face, then she and her friends chased him outside and beat him with their shoes

Three women have been charged with assault after they used their shoes to beat a man after he refused to buy one of them a drink in a Hudson Valley bar, authorities say.

Police in the city of Newburgh, N.Y., tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that a woman called 911 early Tuesday, claiming a man in Emily's Bar had punched one of them in the face.

But officers say that one of the women had punched the man in the face when he refused to buy her a drink. Police say she and two other women chased the man outside and clubbed him with their shoes as the bar's bouncer joined the attack.

The women, ages 19, 24 and 25, and the bouncer were charged with felony gang assault.

Police say the victim suffered eye injuries.
