Mother of Suspect in Texas Deputy Shooting Gives Shopping Alibi

The mother of the suspect in the execution-style killing of Texas sheriff's deputy Darren H. Goforth said her son cannot be the gunman because he was out shopping with her at the time of the shooting.

Before Shannon Jaruay Miles, 30, was charged with capital murder, his mother told NBC station KPRC that the two had had trouble getting home from their shopping trip because police has surrounded their street.

Miles was brought in for questioning and arrested and charged after ballistics tests indicated that the weapon used in the gas station shooting matched a gun belonging to Miles, Sheriff Ron Hickman said Saturday.

Miles is being held without bond pending his arraignment Monday morning in Harris County District Clerk.
