Texan Gets 3 Years After Planting Gun Into Boyfriend's Child's Backpack

A Houston-area woman must serve three years in prison for putting her boyfriend's gun in his son's backpack to get the child in trouble at school.

Montgomery County jail records show 28-year-old Heather Hodges of Anderson was being held Friday pending transfer to a Texas prison.

A judge in Conroe on Thursday sentenced Hodges, who pleaded guilty to unlawful carrying of a weapon on restricted premises in the 2012 case.

Investigators say Hodges believed the 13-year-old boy had mistreated her two younger children.

An anonymous phone call, later linked to Hodges, led to the gun being found in the boy's backpack at Magnolia Junior High School in Magnolia.

Nobody was hurt.
