Suburban Girl to Represent Illinois at White House Dinner

A young suburban girl will soon be dining with the First Lady for a dinner at the White House thanks to her creative soup recipe.

Tess Boghossian, 11, of Palatine, was one of 54 winners in the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge, part of Michelle Obama’s initiative to encourage healthy living for children and prevent childhood obesity.

Roughly 1,500 recipes were entered into the competition and the 54 winners are set to attend the annual Kids’ “State Dinner,” hosted by Michelle Obama July 18.

Boghossian’s recipe was dubbed “Lincoln’s Inaugural Soup,” a conconction that included quinoa, vegetables, white beans and skinless chicken breast, she told the Daily Herald. It also features an extra “oomph” of fresh lemon juice and spices.

Boghossian will represent Illinois at the event.

The menu for the White House meal has not yet been released.
