Seven-Year-Old Dies at Annapolis Parade

A 7-year-old boy died Thursday after a tragic accident at the start of Annapolis' Fourth of July parade.

Police said Friday that Kyle Aldridge, of Baltimore, was getting off a moving trailer when he fell and was struck by the tire of the trailer.

It happened on Amos Garrett Boulevard, where floats and other vehicles were lining up to enter the parade route. Police say Aldridge's grandfather was driving the van at the time, but initial information indicates that driver error was not a contributing factor in the accident. The trailer Aldridge's grandfather was pulling carried a motorcycle that performs for a company called iWHeelie.com.

The boy was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

A similar incident happened in Oklahoma, where a father accidentally ran over and killed his 8-year-old son, who either jumped or fell from parade float Thursday morning. Police called it a "horrific, unfortunate accident."
