Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, notorious ever since he admitted to smoking crack cocaine while in office, will make a weekly appearance on the Washington, D.C.-based radio show "The Sports Junkies."

Washington, D.C. sports talk radio station 106.7 The Fan is hoping to bank on Ford's notoriety, announcing on Wednesday that he will join the show for a weekly appearance every Thursday morning starting this week.

WJFK-FM announced Wednesday that Ford will call into the show to pick NFL games and talk sports. His appearances are tentatively scheduled for Thursdays at 8:40 a.m.

Ford has become one of the world's most scrutinized politicians since he admitted last month to smoking crack "probably a year ago" while in "a drunken stupor."

That admission, his acknowledgment of frequent binge drinking and a series of outbursts led the city council to strip Ford of most of his powers. His office budget was slashed and his staff was allowed to join the deputy mayor.

Ford has refused to step down and denies he has a problem with alcohol, although he says he's quit drinking.

The Washington station where he will soon work was already in the news on Wednesday when The Washington Post reported that the Washington Redskins were contemplating taking legal action after host Danny Rouhler's series of parody broadcasts.
