Woman Who Questioned Trump Is Bush Volunteer

The young woman Donald Trump accused of being a Jeb Bush campaign plant after she challenged him at an event in New Hampshire volunteers for Bush campaign events, a Bush campaign aide confirmed to NBC News.

Trump on Monday appeared at a rare gathering that brought together both Republican and Democratic presidential candidates and faced questions from skeptical audience members after touting his business record to the crowd.

The woman, identified as Lauren Batchelder, told Trump, "Prove me wrong, but I don't think you're a friend to women." She asked whether, as president, he would support paying women and men equally. Then, apparently referring to reproductive rights, she asked, "Do I get to choose what I do with my body?"

He replied that she'd get paid the same if she does her job as well as a man, and that he is "pro-life."

"I respect women, and I'm going to take care of women," he said.

The billionaire businessman later tweeted a report from a conservative website that said the woman was an intern for Bush.

The Bush campaign told NBC News that Batchelder has never been paid but volunteers at events.

"Like many in NH, Lauren is a student at St. A's who is passionate about and active in politics and attended this event on her own accord. While this question was not sanctioned by the campaign, we can't help but notice Mr. Trump does seem to be very sensitive about being challenged by women," a campaign aide said.
