At Least 1 Person Shot, Officer Hospitalized in Second Night of Unrest in Milwaukee

Officers used armored vehicles to rescue one shooting victim, police said

At least one person was shot in Milwaukee late Sunday as protests over a fatal police shooting turned violent for a second night.

Milwaukee police reported several rounds of gunfire and said officers used armored vehicles to rescue one shooting victim, who was rushed to an area hospital late Sunday. The status of the victim was not known.

Protesters threw objects at police after authorities declared the gathering in the Sherman Park neighborhood of Milwaukee an unlawful assembly and threatened arrests around 12 a.m. ET.

At least one officer was taken to a hospital following injuries sustained when flying debris hit the officer's police cruiser.
