Wrong-Way Driver Fatally Wrecks on I-30

A wrong-way driver fatally crashed into the median in Mesquite early, blocking several lanes of traffic Wednesday morning.[[295905581,L]]

Mesquite police said they received several calls about a person driving east on westbound Interstate 30 at about 3:15 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle that had crashed into the divider near Galloway Avenue.

The driver, who has been identified as 36-year-old Vanessa Gail Espinoza,  was the only person in the vehicle, according to police.

Officers closed the two left lanes and the HOV lane of I-30 while they investigated the wreck.

They cleared the scene and reopened all lanes by 6 a.m.

According to Mesquite police, this is the fourth fatality crash of 2015, resulting in four deaths, as compared to one fatality crash for the same period in 2014, resulting in one death.
