Women's Group Aims to Educate About Islam

A group of women in North Texas are working to fight racial prejudice against Muslims and Islam.

On Sunday in Allen, The Women’s Auxiliary of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Dallas hosted nearly 200 women for a question and answer session on the topic.

The session was part of The True Islam and the Extremists campaign, which aims to educate Americans and Muslim Americans on the peaceful, anti-extremist teachings of Islam.

Guest speaker Congresswoman Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas District 30 led several discussions.

The female-only crowd discussed terrorism, ISIS, Women in Islam, Hijab and common misconceptions extremists use to radicalize youth.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community calls itself a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam. Established in 1920, it is reportedly the oldest American-Muslim organization.
