Woman's Body Found Wrapped in a Tarp

Dallas police have issued a murder warrant for Roger Santos Reyes in connection with the death of Maritza Panameno.

Panameno's body was recovered from the Trinity River bottoms Sunday after family and friends found the 34-year-old missing Irving woman Sunday evening, wrapped in a tarp.

Panameno was reported missing out of Irving at about 10 p.m. Friday.  Relatives had been searching for her near Dowdy Ferry after receiving a tip about where to look for her.

On Friday night, Reyes called several family members and said he had a flat tire and needed some help, police said.  He also indicated that he'd done something very bad, but didn't elaborate.  When family members realized that Panameno was missing, they'd gone to the area where Reyes said he had a flat tire and said that's when they spotted the victim in the ravine, wrapped in a tarp.

Initial reports from friends of Panameno said her ex-husband told his brother that he dumped her body into the river from an overpass near Interstate 20 and Dowdy Ferry Road. The brother then supposedely told church members what he had learned about the woman's disappearance.

Reyes is currently at large and an active manhunt is under way by the Dallas Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service.
