Woman Stole ID Info From Public Computers at Texas Hotels

A woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing personal information from people who used public computers at some Texas hotels.

Courtni Heryford pleaded guilty Monday in Galveston to fraudulent possession of identifying information. Prosecutors in Galveston say the 29-year-old Heryford was caught with more than 50 items related to false identification.

Heryford was arrested last September after Galveston police received complaints from several victims. All had interaction with Heryford. The victims were families who recently visited Galveston, including children.

Investigators who searched a Galveston hotel room where Heryford had been found documents she left behind with ID information on other people.

Heryford also pleaded guilty to a state jail felony drug charge.
