Police try to figure out why man entered home

A woman will not be charged after police say she shot a man inside her Fort Worth home early this morning.

Fort Worth police were called to a home in the 6700 block of Fortune Road just before 3:30 a.m. in reference to a prowler.

The woman told police she woke up to a man ringing her doorbell and called 911.

Police said before officers got there, the man somehow got inside the home and the woman shot the man in the torso.

When officers got to the house they found the man with a gunshot wound inside the home, police said he was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police said the family just purchased the home and the woman was home alone while the rest of her family was traveling.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as James Green, 29, from Fort Worth. The ME said Green died at the hospital, he was shot in the abdomen, chest and right arm.

Police are not charging the homeowner, but continue to investigate why Green entered the home; his truck was towed from the scene at around 6:30 a.m.
