Woman Shot Leaving Work in Dallas

Mother of four in stable condition after being shot in parking lot

An employee was shot while leaving the Dawson State Jail in Dallas on Tuesday evening.

Police said a man walked up to 26-year-old Shiva Daniels as she was getting into her van in the parking lot next to the state jail and opened fire just before 5 p.m.

Daniels' family said they suspect her former boyfriend shot her.

Investigators recovered a shotgun shell underneath her van.

Daniels' family said she was shot in the arm. She was taken to a Dallas hospital in critical condition and went right into surgery.

Family members said Daniels is in stable condition but do not know if she will regain full use of her arm.

Daniels, a mother of four, lives in Grand Prairie with her two sets of twins.

Her family said she has been employed at the jail as a maintenance worker for five years.
