Woman Shot After Being Followed into Home: Dallas Police

A woman is recovering after being shot during an attempted robbery inside her home early Monday, according to Dallas police.[[295622891,L]]

Police said someone followed the woman into her home in the 12500 block of Audelia Road and tried to rob her at about midnight Monday.

Dallas Police Department spokeswoman Monica Cordova said the robber then shot the woman during a struggle.

Monday afternoon, the 33 -year-old victim spoke to robbery detectives.

She said she got home from shopping at about 12:30 a.m., and when she got close to her apartment, a man with a pistol forced her into her home. She said he wanted money, and she told him she didn’t have any. There was a struggle, and the suspect shot her in the leg. He was wearing dark pants, a white shirt and a ball cap.

Neighbors said they are very concerned about what happened.

“God bless her and her bravery in fighting back. I just hope she is well and going to make it ok,” said neighbor Susan Fetty.

The woman was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where she is stable.

Officials told NBC 5 the victim's injuries are not life-threatening.
