A North Texas woman has died after she and her companion fell from a third-floor balcony at the Mansions at Sunset Ridge Apartments Sunday evening, police say.

According to police, the couple fell from the balcony at about 9:30 p.m. after a railing gave way at the apartments on the 1400 block of Carrollton Parkway.

Both the man, who has not been identified, and the woman, identified as 26-year-old Alisha Wilhite, were transported in critical condition.

Wilhite was pronounced dead at about 10 p.m. at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, police said.

The city's inspector's office has been notified. An investigation into incident is underway.
