Woman Charged in Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Plano

A woman was arrested and charged Monday with intoxication manslaughter after a speeding motorcycle rider was killed when he crashed into her vehicle, police say.[[385565221,R]]

According to a police statement, a motorcyclist was speeding northbound on U.S. 75, near Republic Drive, when he crashed at about 7:05 p.m. into an SUV whose driver pulled out in front of him.

The motorcycle rider, identified as 25-year-old Jesse Villarreal, was thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Villarreal was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police.

Police said the driver of the SUV, identified as 45-year-old Lenora Merritt, was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Merritt was not hurt in the crash.

The Plano Police Department's traffic unit was in charge of the investigation.
