Woman Arrested After Child Left in Hot Car in McKinney: Police

McKinney police arrested a woman Wednesday after they say she left her child inside a parked car at midday while getting an eye exam.

Kimberly Rosario, 27, was arrested for abandoning/endangering a child, police said in a media release.

A concerned passerby saw the baby inside a car parked outside a Target store in the 2000 block of North Central Expressway at about noon. The person called police to report the situation and then broke a window to get the baby out of the car, police said.

Police said a temperature reading inside the vehicle about 10 minutes after the child was rescued measured at 130 degrees.

McKinney firefighters rushed the child to the hospital for treatment. The child's age and condition were not immediately known.

Rosario allegedly told police that she forgot her child was in the vehicle while she was having an eye exam. She was transported to the Collin County Sheriff's Office.
