Woman, 81, Dies After Driving Scooter Into Pool

An 81-year-old woman from Fort Worth has died after driving her scooter into a pool at about 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Billie Gaddy was found in the pool by her grandson Phillip Rambo, who said she had been there for about 15 minutes. He attempted to give her CPR and called an ambulance.

Authorities said Gaddy was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in critical condition. She was still breathing at the time.

Gaddy died at the hospital at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Gaddy's family was visiting when she went outside with her dog. She often took her pet for walks while in her motorized wheelchair, but it worried her relatives because she rode it near the swimming pool.

Lisa Anderson, Gaddy's daughter, said her mother had health problems, prior strokes and was nearly blind. Family members were about to give Gaddy her medications when they found her unresponsive in the water.
