Whole Foods Cookies and Nature Valley Granola Bars Recalled

There are two recalls involving cookies and granola bars that may have been sold in Texas.

Whole Foods Cookies

Peanut butter cookies, peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies and mini peanut butter cookies sold at Whole Foods Market in Texas are being recalled over concerns they may be contaminated with salmonella.

The 3 ounce cookies peanut butter and peanut butter and chocolate chunk cookies were sold in the self-serve pastry case.

The mini peanut butter cookies were sold in small 12-pack plain brown bags featuring a cellophane window on the front and a Whole Foods Market sticker that says "mini peanut butter cookies."

The company says all of recalled cookies were sold at Whole Foods Market stores in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma before Sept. 29, 2012.

The 3 oz. Peanut Butter and 3oz. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk cookies under the cookie PLU 47963.

The 12-pack Mini Peanut Butter cookies have a PLU of 22096100000.

Whole Foods is asking customers to throw the cookies out and bring their receipt to the store for a full refund. Customers with questions about the recall can call 512-542-0060 Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CDT.

The cookie recall is in response to a recall by Sunland, Inc., whose recalled peanut butter has been connected to 29 illnesses in 18 states.

No illnesses have been reported in relation to the cookies.

Nature Valley Almond Sweet & Salty Granola Bars

Meanwhile, General Mills is voluntarily recalling Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars because of a labeling issue.

The company said individually wrapped Peanut Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars were inserted into 6-count boxes labeled as the almond variety, and the boxes do not have labeling "may contain peanuts." No other varieties were affected.

The boxes in question have a Better If Used By date of 26FEB2013 on the top.

There have been no reports of allergic reactions or illnesses associated with the product.
