White Rock Lake Dog Park Closing for Much-Needed Repairs

The park is scheduled to close May 8-19 for turf and irrigation upgrades

The Dallas Park and Recreation Department says its largest dog park is in need of repairs and must close for several days.

The White Rock Lake Dog Park on the 8000 block of East Mockingbird Lane last underwent major upgrades in 2015, and since that time the parks department says thousands of dogs and their owners have enjoyed the off-leash park.

The well-tread surface is so hard packed, though, it has been difficult for crews to grow new grass.

Now, the park will close from May 8-18 so crews can condition the soil, place new turf and make repairs to the irrigation and drainage systems – not to mention some odor control.

The park is expected to reopen Friday, May 19.
