Week to End in Crowning Glory

Miss Texas pageant runs this week

The Dallas-Fort Worth-North Texas area could well produce the winner of this year’s Miss Texas crown.

No fewer than 19 of the 37 contestants represent a city, county, river, or lake somewhere in the North Texas area, and that excludes Miss Northeast Texas. Didn’t they used to represent specific cities?

Anyway, the competition officially starts tomorrow and runs through the crowning event July 1 at the University of Texas at Arlington to give it an air of academics, maybe.

The week also includes the running of the Miss Teen Texas contestants. Check out the associated websites for details on event schedules and ticket prices and such.

Personally, I’m liking Miss White Rock. Not because she allegedly comes from my part of town but because she’s the only one of the Miss Texas beauties to use a photo of her resting her chin on her hand. Shows a kind of casual, lean-in confidence.

One question, though. Where the hell is Hub City, and how many cans of Red Bull did it take to get her eyes that wide open?
