Wedding Ballroom Closes Without Warning

When Jennifer Harrington and John Morris got engaged, they decided to book the necessities early to avoid the stress.

"We booked the DJ, the venue, the caterer and photographer right away. All the big ticket items." Harrington said.

But instead of enjoying her engagement, she's stressed because the venue she booked closed down. Jennifer said she received a letter late last month from the Summit Ballrooms in Plano telling her the venue she booked closed down.

"I panicked. You just wonder what you're going to do now," she said.

Harrington said the letter doesn't say exactly why the venue closed down.

To make things worse, Harrington had already paid more than $5000 to reserve the space.

"Now all of a sudden with 30 something days left, we have to scramble to replace it all," Harrington said.

She was able to scrape together enough money to reserve another location, but said she's not sure if she'll get her money back.

NBC 5 tried to contact the Summit Ballrooms' owner, but the phone number listed was out of service.
