Waxahachie HS Evacuated After Bomb Threat

A bomb scare at Waxahachie High School prompted an evacuation Friday morning, but nothing was found after an exhaustive search.

Shortly before 10 a.m., a bomb threat was made at the school on a handwritten note. The school was quickly, and safely, evacuated with students being relocated inside the Solis Gymnasium at the district's ninth grade campus.

Police, a bomb-sniffing dog and firefighters then began to search the school.

Students are not permitted to leave the WHS campus in their cars, as all cars on the WHS parking lot have been locked down until the campus is released back to the district. Parents were able to pick up their children from the ninth grade campus, following normal district check-out procedures.

At about 1:30 p.m. officials determined there was not threat and allowed students back into the school.

The district is working with local law enforcement to investigate the threat.
