Water Woes Will Keep Some Fort Hood Workers Home

Fort Hood is telling certain employees not to report to work Monday due to a water shortage.

The Central Texas Army base said Sunday that supplies from the main water line had been interrupted and declared a stage 4 water supply emergency.

A statement Sunday evening says only "key and essential" personnel should report Monday. It says soldiers and civilians employees should ask their supervisors for clarification.

The release also says all child development centers will be closed, and outpatient services at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and at the Copperas Cove Medical Home will be canceled and rescheduled.

The water supply emergency declaration bans watering lawns, filling swimming pools, washing cars and other "non-essential" indoor and outdoor use.
